The Zenbook S 16 (2024) keyboard is simple and elegant. There’s no number pad, which might annoy some people, but I’m all for it. This allows for larger keys with more space between them, which is a win in my book. It’s a membrane keyboard with 1.1mm of key travel. I’ve used better laptop keyboards, but this one phone number list holds its own. It feels snappy and comfortable enough for long periods of typing. The Wi-Fi 7 connection
The real star of the show, though, is the backlight. ASUS has gone with white LEDs, which can be a recipe for disaster when using white keys. But somehow they’ve pulled it off here. The keys are brightly backlit, making it easy to see the keyboard whether you’re gaming until midnight or working in broad daylight. While it might not win any “best laptop keyboard” awards, it’s a solid performer that gets the job done with some style.

If you don’t push the ASUS Zenbook S 16 too hard, you’ll love how quiet it is. The fans are mostly silent, and only spin up when what is the initial cost for that application? you’re doing something demanding, like running a benchmark or editing a video. As for heat, this laptop does a good job of keeping cool. Even when doing demanding tasks, the hottest spot I found was right above the keyboard, reaching 42.3°C (108.14°F). That’s warm, but not “ouch!” territory.
It’s one of the quietest and most comfortable Windows laptops I’ve used for everyday computing, thanks to ASUS’s vapor chamber cooling system and the efficient AMD hardware powering it.
ASUS Zenbook S 16 (2024) stays cool even under load
The ASUS Zenbook S 16 supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. It’s nice to see progress in this area, especially considering that Wi-Fi 7 routers have been available for some time. While that’s a positive, my brief testing showed that the fresh list MediaTek network card isn’t as fast as the Qualcomm cards found in ARM-based Windows 11 laptops. Hopefully, Wi-Fi performance will improve in future driver updates.
